Recipe of the Week – Broiled Steak
Broiled Steak – Simplified!
8-12 ounce steaks 1 per person
Turn broiler feature on and set temp to 375 degrees. Place rack on middle rack option. Allow the oven to heat fully. Broil the steaks on a large cookie sheet 8 minutes per side. Turn once for rare (16 minutes), twice for medium (24 minutes) three times for well (32 minutes). These are the most tender steaks I’ve been able to cook at home. I like to sprinkle some Montreal Steak Seasoning on them for a little kick. Serve with the au juis the cookie sheet collects.
Served here with baked sweet potato and mixed vegetables, with broiled apples for dessert (see recipe below).
Tip: To broil the potatoes wrap them in foil and put them in as you preheat the oven, turn them once when you start the steaks. Perfectly “baked” foil wrapped sweet potatoes!
Broiled apples – Simplified!
1 small- medium apple per person
Cut apples in half and core. Place 1 tsp butter on each cored half, sprinkle with Brown Sugar and Cinnamon (or French Toast Blend) Place the cored halves cut side up on foil. If you are broiling steaks then arrange them around the steaks while they broil. Apples take 16 minutes.
